The Veil Sanity Guide

Quick answer: sanity is the green bar next to your health and it drains at night. If it empties you die regardless of how much HP you have left. Daytime is safe — a launch-day patch fixed an early bug where it drained during daylight too. Recover at campfires and Runner Outposts scattered through the labyrinth, or with sanity potions carried in your hotbar.

Why the night kills you

Monster spawns are far denser after dark, which makes night the better farming window — but every extra minute out there is spent against a clock. Health and sanity run side by side, and either one hitting zero ends the run. Keep a potion slotted in the hotbar before heading out of the safe zone.

Recovery options

• Campfires — scattered through the labyrinth; note them on your route.
• Runner Outposts — recovery and travel points; also plan exits around them.
• Sanity potions — carried in the hotbar; affordable once you have a silver loop (silver guide).

The night-door maze rule

Maze doors open at night and close during the day. To get inside during daylight you need unlocked Pylons and Waypoints — such as The Glade, Echohold, or the hidden Weeping Garden — which is why unlocking travel points early pays off more than any early gear upgrade. See the maze guide.

Day/night strategy

• New players: run the maze by day while learning the layout — night stacks sanity drain on top of horde pressure.
• Night farming: go deep deliberately with potions and an exit route, and turn back before the bar gets low rather than after.
• Recorded in release footage: certain events (Angry Nimbus rain spawns, the Puppeteer) only happen at specific times — the bar is part of the schedule. Boss locations.
