The Veil Prestige Guide
Prestige is your real power level — every level grants +50 HP, and death takes one away.
Quick answer: prestige grants +50 max HP per level (from a 200 HP base, up to a cap of 20). It is earned from boss kills, consuming rare items (“grips”), and killing players whose prestige matches or exceeds yours. Dying costs you one prestige — a deep run at prestige 0 with thin gear is a bad trade.
How to gain prestige
- Boss kills — the main source. Every boss in the game grants an official defeat badge; kills are the cleanest repeatable gain. All 11 bosses.
- Grips — consuming rare items (community-documented).
- Player kills — killing players whose prestige matches or exceeds your own counts; this is why outlaws hunt prestige carriers outside the safe zone.
How to lose it
- Death costs one prestige level. Sanity death at night counts — the bar kills you regardless of HP (sanity guide).
- A launch patch fixed a prestige duplication glitch — treat any “infinite prestige” method as outdated.
Strategy
- Farm bosses you can clear reliably rather than pushing depth at night with thin gear.
- Weigh PvP risk: carrying prestige makes you an outlaw target; killing equal-or-higher prestige players is a gain, dying is a loss.
- At high levels, +50 HP per level compounds with races (Human adds +5 max HP per prestige level) — see the races hub.
